| Responsibility
Overview:
Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the successful candidate
will perform skilled work in the manufacture and repair of metal
parts/components through the operation of manual and CNC lathes,
shapers, planers, milling machines, drill presses, hydraulic presses
and similar equipment. The successful Machinist must employ a high degree of
accuracy and precision in performing work according to instructions and
specifications. Assignments are received in the form of oral
instructions, penciled layouts, blueprints, sketches, and by reference
to worn or broken parts. Work methods and procedures are determined by
the Machinist, but the work is subject to inspection during process and
upon completion for quality and conformity with requirements. Completion of assigned tasks will include interface with
other departments, completion of appropriate job reports and interface
with the customer. The qualified candidate will:
1. Possess Journeyperson
Interprovincial Machinist Certification or equivalent.
2. Be a team player with
good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with the
ability to contribute positively to a team work environment.
3. Be a motivated self
starter with the ability to work safely with a minimum of supervision.
4. Possess
a
valid
BC
driver’s
licence.
